Ship's painting is a job that requires special attention and care. Some tips are as follows:

  • Ensure that all loose paint is removed with scrapper.
  • Rusty surfaces should be treated before paint (smothering surface, dry with thinner etc.)
  • Check humidity levels, temperature and seawater temperature.
  • Apply the coating when the substrate temperature is at least 3 °C above the dew point
  • Do not apply the coating if the substrate is wet or likely to become wet
  • Use the correct percentage of thinner
  • Allow sufficient time for the paint to dry
