 Nautilus

One of the main contributions of quality standards, such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001 is the self-assessment requirement of a company. To facilitate such an assessment, a company must implement certain key performance indicators (KPIs). A company may measure its performance with respect to those KPIs, which should be simple and shared among a company’s departments and occasionally among its employees. A critical issue is that the KPIs should be capable of measuring many different aspects of a company, such as human resources, knowledge management, finance and infrastructure. The goal of these standards is customer satisfaction which, for a ship operator may be his/her flag state, PSC authorities, charterers or insurance companies.

There are several examples in the business world with KPIs which however are generic and insufficient for the maritime industry. Therefore Nautilus software is using a set of KPIS measuring the performance of a company abased in its goals. A key aspect is that the decision maker may adjust the weighting of his/her KPIs.
